China Wows The World With Extraordinary, Futuristic Library

After a three year construction period, the five-story Tianjin Binhai Library opened in Tianjin Binhai, China, this past October.  The stunning architecture of the center features 36,000 square feet and a spiraling, breathtaking modernist auditorium with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

The photos speak for themselves in just how visually captivating this library is.  While it is nothing short of a book lover’s dream, there is one small catch: Its winding bookshelves don’t actually hold thousands of books. If you take a closer look, you may notice the shelves are printed with digital book images. Who would have thought?  But about 200,000 real books are available in other rooms of the library. The jaw-dropping main room is primarily intended for socialization and reading, according to Mashable. In addition to its dramatic main auditorium, the 36,000-square-foot library also contains reading rooms, lounge areas, offices, and meeting spaces, and has two rooftop patios.

Glorious, I’m ready to book my flight!
